Still Raising the Level After 150 Years
by Mike Hogarth
Over 150 years ago under the sanction of Howe Lodge No 587 The General Lodge of Instruction was formed. It’s not true that John Emms and Mike Hogarth were present! Since then we’ve met at Severn Street, The Apollo Hotel, Stirling Rd,… Jas Saimbi who has been an assistant preceptor for 18 months and Richard Pinner our latest assistant preceptor in January 2026. We meet every Thursday at 7.00pm and finish by 9.00 at Severn Street during the months of Sept – May. Each week we open and close in all three degrees and rehearse a different ceremony. Also covered are The Festive Board, Masonic Etiquette and Protocol. There are no dress restrictions or suggestions. Come as you are from home or work you will be made welcome. There are no annual subs or festive boards.
Each year we work towards a Festival which we hold in May. This year it is Wed 14th May. We are always honoured to have a prestigious member of the Craft as our festival president and this year is no exception. David Shakeshaft Deputy Provincial Grand Master has agreed to be our Festival President We will work the first-degree ceremony and charge. The Brethren will all be below the chair and the calling notice is attached.
Come along and bring a junior brother with you.
We can guarantee a daily advancement in Masonic knowledge. If you want to make new friends and enjoy the Craft even more then come along and join in. You will be made most welcome.
