William Watson Provincial Grand Registar (Craft and Chapter)

In Warwickshire, the positions of Provincial Grand Registrar in the Craft and Royal Arch are both held by WBro/EComp William P Watson (“Will”).
With the roll out of Hermes it has been an incredible busy, but very enjoyable year.
What does the Registrar do?:
- Maintains the registers and databases, ensuring personal, lodge, and office records are accurate and up to date. Acts as the main contact for UGLE systems (Adelphi, Hermes, Portal).
- Records all initiations, exaltations, joiners, degrees conferred, and installations, ensuring they are Regular i.e. comply with the Book of Constitutions. Works closely with UGLE’s Registration and Secretariat teams to resolve issues and minimise impact on lodges and members, when items are found not to be Regular.
- Manages the Appointments and Promotions process for Provincial Grand Ranks, ensuring that candidates who are eligible for Promotion are on the lists, and data is available for consideration by the Provincial Grand Master and the Appointments Committee.
- Collaborates closely with the Provincial Grand Secretary/Scribe E, Provincial Wendy, their assistants, and other secretariat volunteers.
- Is available to advise the PGM and his team on Book of Constitutions matters, data analysis, and legal/regulatory issues (e.g., GDPR).
Will Is also a wealth of absolute trivia and nonsense relating to history of our ritual and regulations. He especially likes the old BoC Rule 7 – which forbade Hissing at another Brother in Grand Lodge.
