Integrity Lodge Leaves RNLI ‘Blown Away’ with Lifesaving Support
by Simon Grove
Integrity and Charity
Charity is, of course, one of our core values and the brethren of the Lodge of Integrity, named after another of our guiding principles, certainly enjoy demonstrating that particular distinguishing characteristic. 2024 was very special for the lodge as it saw them celebrate their centenary with John Emms back in the Chair. 2024 also saw the Royal National Lifeboat Institution celebrate its bicentenary so it was perhaps no surprise that John chose the RNLI as his non-masonic charity of choice.
Following the continued generosity of members and visitors alike, no doubt helped by the lodge charity steward who is a life-long support of the RNLI, John was thrilled to hear that the lodge had raised £1,200 during his special year. On one of his regular sojourns to Cornwall, he was delighted to present a cheque when he popped in to speak with some of the crew at the Port Isaac station.
Perhaps better known as the location for the Doc Martin TV programme and also the home of the Fisherman’s Friends, the station boasts a long history of saving lives at sea. Their current boat, the Copeland Bell, is a D Class Inshore Lifeboat and can be seen in the photo showing John present Geoff Monk with the cheque. He enjoyed visiting the station and was pleased to report that they were quite simply blown away by the donation.
