Passing the Baton… and the Running Shoes!

Geoff Brunt, of Heart of England Lodge 6549, had originally planned to take on the London Marathon this year in support of Warwickshire’s Tercentenary Appeal and Fisher House. However, after a few training runs - and deciding that discretion was indeed the better part of valour - he has handed the challenge over to his son, James.

Marathon Challenge Passed from Father to Son

Geoff Brunt, of Heart of England Lodge 6549, had originally planned to take on the London Marathon this year in support of Warwickshire’s Tercentenary Appeal and Fisher House. However, after a few training runs – and deciding that discretion was indeed the better part of valour – he has handed the challenge over to his son, James.

James completed the Marathon in just over five hours. He said afterwards” I was fine up until the 19 mile point but then hit the wall and got the most painful cramp. It was thinking about the families at Fisher House that got me through the last seven miles.”

Laura Powers for Fisher House said “James, we thank you for your amazing effort and hope your blisters don’t last too long!”

There is still time to support James in raising funds for Fisher House, helping the military personnel and their families who have given so much in service.
