SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE

The annual Service of Remembrance was held on Saturday 8 November 2025 at the Yenton Masonic Centre.  It was, once again, well supported with almost 100 people in attendance.  The Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VW Bro David Butcher acted as host in the absence of the Provincial Grand Master and the service was led by the Provincial Grand Chaplain, W Bro Tim Boyns.

The Guest of Honour was W Bro Prof Martin Levermore MBE, one of His Majesty’s Deputy Lieutenants of the West Midlands Lieutenancy (W’ton Group), who laid a wreath along with the Rulers in various Orders, Brethren with military backgrounds and others.

W Bro Robert Ashford, having played the bagpipes as the assembled attendees entered the Temple, played the Last Post and Reveille to mark the start and ending of the two-minute silence.

The service featured the reading of the Roll of Honour to commemorate those Brethren from the Province who died in the Great War, Multi Faith Readings and a Prayer Poem, ‘Let There Be Peace’, written and played by W Bro Mike Grillage and narrated by Mrs Sheila Charles.

The service was a moving and respectful occasion, with all sharing a moment of remembrance and reflection in an atmosphere of solemnity and gratitude.  The proceedings drew to a fitting conclusion with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem.
